Assorted Art

In this gallery you’ll find an assortment of personal illustrations, mainly focusing on a whimsical and childlike view of the world. I also often lean towards a comic panel aesthetic.

Juxtaposing larger and smaller characters is a common theme in my pieces. I find that the difference in sizes make for an interesting contrast, and often portrays what it’s like for children trying to find their place in an adult world.

Video games are a huge inspiration, as well as graphic novels like Tintin and Hilda. Characters who find themselves out of their usual environment fascinate me.

Colour palettes are often bold and vibrant, regularly focusing on deep greens, sunset oranges and simmering yellows. Making the imagery pop out of the page or screen is hugely important in grabbing attention, with a central character drawing the eye in.

I try to hint at a backstory within each illustration, and leave it open to the interpretation of the viewer. I don’t like spelling things out too clearly, and find that the strange imagery is enough to get you to guess at the background narrative (occasionally complimented by a speech bubble).

Animals are also important in my work, with round cats being a particular favourite of mine. The larger and fluffier the creature (whether real or imaginary) the better.

You can see a vast array of characters I’ve designed here. Many were suggestions from my online followers.

You can find my most recent work on my social media (links available in the header). I have big plans for the coming year, including a full length graphic novel based on some original characters. If you are interested in possible commissions or collaborations, please don’t hesitate to get in contact.
