The Molys

In a fantasy land, deep underground, a village of creatures called the molys live, unaware of the world far above. A trio of molys embark on a trek to find some glowing orbs that will help light their village, which leads them onto a far greater adventure that will take them to the surface and re-shape their very existence.
The molys have been my mascots throughout my teen years and into my adult life as a freelance illustrator. After working on some comics for a local publisher I was inspired to start my own graphic novel, and a book about the molys was the obvious choice! Although the molys are small and cute, I wanted to create a story that would be vast and epic. The scope of the graphic novel (and planned subsequent books) is something I think is currently unmatched in the industry. It's a really unique and fresh idea that has the potential to be very big!
I am currently pitching the graphic novel to agents and publishers. You can see a more in-depth look here:

The molys are a race of small humanoid creatures. They have spent centuries underground, so their skin is pale and their one large, black eye helps them see in dim spaces.
From the safety of their underground world, they embark on an adventure that will see them encounter flesh-eating insects, ancient floating robots and multi-mile long dragons. The wonders that await them are beautiful and vast, yet dangerous and unforgiving.

The story focuses on a hunter named Scalp, who alongside his best friends Scilly and Tipsa embark on a journey deep into the cavernous tunnels that lead far from their village. They have no concept of the outside, or of any other creatures other than themselves and the small insectics that they eat.
After becoming trapped far away from their village, they encounter an ancient floating robot, who helps guide them out of their cavernous underworld and into the blinding daylight of the surface, leaving the molys in a state of absolute disbelief and wonder.
They travel across this green, sprawling land and encounter Aralella, a gigantic dragon who initially attacks, but ultimately befriends them.
The molys return to their lower world, ready to tell their friends what they have discovered.
An even more epic adventure awaits. What will the future bring for these small creatures?
